After the Honeymoon: The Prince and Princess Settle In
Within days of returning to the United Kingdom from their honeymoon tour of Canada and the Western United States, Prince William and Katherine, now known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have settled in a rented farmhouse in Anglesey, a small Island off the coast of Wales.
Prince William is still in training as a search and command helicopter pilot in Anglesey at the Royal Air Forces command headquarters on the small island, while Katherine takes care of the farmhouse and the rented property.
Just recently, within a day or two, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently visited the Birmingham area, site of last week’s riots where people were injured and stores were looted. Reportedly, after listening to one horror-story of the riot, William said he would like to bring some of his aides with him when the next riot breaks out and give the rioters a good beating.
Buckingham palace officials have been reported as saying that William and Kate will book far fewer public engagements in the coming months than they had before their April 29, wedding. According to palace reports, while William is completing his training as a rescue mission helicopter pilot, Kate will start making decisions on the special philantropies she will spend her time and the royal couple’s money.
Buckingham Palace spokesmen have also reported that William and Kate do not have any overseaas trips booked for the rest of this year, although they may travel next year. William and Kate returned to Great Britain after their 11-day honey-moon trip to Canada and California.
When they are not on Anglesey, William and Katherine have a two-bedroom apartment in Kensington Palace in Cambridge that will serve as the couple’s home in London. Kensington Palace is where Princess Diana, William’s mother, lived after her divorce.
