The fourth Awards attracted over 14,000 nominations from the general public. The 21 shortlisted nominees were invited, along with over 400 guests to attend the Awards dinner in London in January. The winners included Baroness Margaret Thatcher who was presented with a Lifetime Achievement award by the Rt. Hon David Cameron
Our third set of Awards attracted over 13,000 nominations. The 21 shortlisted nominees were invited, along with over 400 guests to attend the Awards dinner in London in January. The guest speaker, Vice President Al Gore, addressed the guests with a speech focusing on the Environment and the way in which Britain has led the field in this area.
Prominent figures from business, the arts, and politics, attended the Awards ceremony in January 2006, hosted by Master of Ceremonies Clive Anderson. The guest speaker, the new Conservative Party Leader David Cameron, addressed the guests with a speech on Britishness. Winners included Lord Coe, Dame Ellen MacArthur and Jamie Oliver.
The first Awards ceremony took place at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, in January 2005. We were honoured to have our new Prime Minister, the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, as the guest speaker and James Naughtie from BBC Radio 4's Today Programme as the Master of Ceremonies.
